Daily Announcements for Thursday, September 2, 2010

VOLLEYBALL: The Girls Varsity Volleyball won their Pool last night with a 2-1 victory over Trico.  The girls showed much character as they came from behind in all 3 games!  Kayla Tutor led the team with 10 assists along with good play from Brittany Laurent!  The girls will finish up the tournament on Friday!

SOCCER: The JV team lost to Alton Marquette 2-0. The varsity team tied Alton Marquette 1-1.  Chandler Wiegand scored our goal off of an assist by Matt Reinholz. Matt played an overall excellent game.

TENNIS: Attention GHS girls tennis team-No practice for Thursday.  Feel free to practice on your own, or try to get to a gym and run or workout. There will be practice for everyone on Friday

GARDEN CLUB: The Gibault Garden Club will have its first official meeting tomorrow in Mr. Schweizer’s room at 7:30 in the morning. We will discuss our major upcoming projects and decide on future meeting times. If a member cannot make it, it is imperative that you see Mr. Schweizer either today or tomorrow to get on the email list.

CHESS CLUB: The Chess Club will have its first official meeting TUESDAY morning in Mr. Schweizer’s room at 7:30. We will discuss tournaments and create an email list for all active members. Bring a friend or two and come ready to play!

SCHOLASTIC BOWL: Next week’s Varsity Scholastic Bowl practices will be on Tuesday at 3:00; Wednesday at 3:00; Thursday at 7:15 SHARP in the morning. If you want to be considered for the Hi-Q Team and cannot make the afternoon practices, you need to attend as many mornings as possible. Gibault plays its first round on Monday evening, Sept. 27, at SIU-Carbondale.

SENIORS: Seven seniors still need to turn in permission slips. Remember to bring in your assigned drink or food item in the morning. Homeroom will be in the cafeteria tomorrow. Dress Code for seniors:  Boys: nice dark pants, long-sleeved button down shirt, tie, and dark dress shoes. Girls: dresses, skirts or slacks (no bare shoulders, no spaghetti straps, no sundresses, mid-drift must be covered, dresses and skirts must be appropriate length). No flip-flops!

Daily Announcements for Wednesday, September 1, 2010

VOLLEYBALL: The Varsity Volleyball team defeated Murphysboro 21-12 and 21-17 and Marissa 21-4 and 21-13 in the Marissa Invitational Volleyball Tournament.  The girls made quick work of their opponents
with great play from Courtney Louveau, Erin Goldschmidt, Courtney Schutt and Maddie Kuerz! 
Hannah Wessel put down an impressive 18 kills on the evening, while Amy Hoffman tallied 9! 
Way to go girls!

TENNIS: Last night, the Girl's Tennis Team lost their match against Highland 0-9  with a season record of 1-2.  There were 14 varsity and reserve players who participated. Singles reserve match winners include Alycia Hollingshead and Logan McBride. Doubles reserve match winners were Ally Farr and Olivia Hart. The team's next match is Saturday against Benton.

SCOPE: Executive board for SCOPE will meet Friday morning at 7:35 am to discuss activities for the year.  This does include class representatives.

SENIORS: This is a reminder to all seniors – Turn in your permission slips and class or family rings to Mrs. Ramlose TODAY for the Ring Mass and Pool Party on Friday. Seniors that are bringing drinks for the pool party need to give them to Jeremy and Chandler in the cafeteria TOMORROW morning before school, so that the drinks can be placed in the cooler. Daily Announcements for Tuesday, August 31, 2010

TENNIS: Last night, the Girl's Tennis Team lost a close match against Civic Memorial 4-5 with a season record of 1-1.  All 15 varsity and reserve players participated. Singles winners include Katie Lamack, Macy Wierschem, Alli Farr, Amber Laurent, and Logan McBride.Double winners were Gabbi Schmitz and Ellie Wessel, Ally Farr and Amber Laurent, Rachel Hayes and Lizzy Raisch. The team's next match is Tuesday (today) at Highland.

GOLF: Golf practice is right after school today.

SCHOLSTIC BOWL: Don’t forget Varsity Scholastic Bowl Practice for HI-Q begins tomorrow.  The place is Room 207; the time is 3-4 p.m. Last year’s Juniors and Seniors are welcome!

OXFORD SHIRTS: Every school mass or on special occasions during the year, student’s will be required to wear their Gibault oxfords.  ONLY solid white t-shirts(no writing) may be worn underneath.  The shirts are to be tucked in and worn with proper uniform shorts, pants or skirts.This Friday is our first mass where students will be required to wear their oxfords.

NHS: NHS applications are due September 2nd.  Please submit your application and essay to Mrs. Kish. There will be a NHS meeting, next Tuesday, September 7th @ 7:35am in the Chemistry room.  All current members must attend.

BOY’S SOCCER: On Friday evening, the JV team lost to SLUH 4-0. The varsity team also lost  4-0 with Auggie Sexauer playing an excellent game in goal and Zach Posey playing very well against an excellent SLUH team. It was 0-0 at halftime. Coach Corsi

GOLF: match starts at 3:30 p.m.  Golfers need to get to the Ridge immediately after school to start warming up.

LITURGICAL MUSIC GROUP:  meets tomorrow morning at 7:15 a.m.  Guitar players and singers are still needed.  See Mr. Ruppel if you are interested.

TENNIS: Last night, the Girl's Tennis Team won their first match of the season and first for Coach Laila Schu.  They defeated Metro East Lutheran 8-1. Singles winners include Katie Lamack, Macy Wierschem, Natalie Loless, Allison Farr, and Amber Laurent. Double winners were Hannah Lundy and Macy Wierschem, Natalie Loless and Katie Lamack, and Alexis Schrieber and Alycia Hollinshead. The team's next match is Monday at Civic Memorial.

GOLF: In Golf last night, Gibault started our season by defeating Valmeyer and Wesclin, but losing to Carlyle.  Steve Souchek was the medalist, shooting a 37.  Jordan Nicolls shot a 43 in his first high school golf match ever!  Ethan Kipping and Cory Sanders shot 46.

INTERNATIONAL CLUB:  The St. Louis Festival of Nations will be held in Tower Grove Park this weekend starting at 10:00 AM Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free. Take advantage of this opportunity and try to go. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 7, after school.
