The bowling team that Mrs. Corzine registered

Attention all seniors: All of you are
invited and strongly encouraged to participate
in the "senior reflection song" at the graduation
ceremony. Rehearsals
are at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week in the
Band Room.
Liturgical Music Group will meet
Wednesday morning at 7:15 a.m.
A reminder to the golf team--our golf
outing has been moved to Thursday after
school.
Girls' Track Sectional: 22 schools
participated.
Stephanie Berg ran her best 400 meter
dash of the season breaking her old record with a time of
1:08.
Jolene Steibel made
it to the finals in the 100 meter dash.
Melisaa Grimm, just coming
back from pulling a quad at the beginning of the season, ran very
well.
Kaitlyn Fahy ran the 100 meter dash and the 4x200 relay for the
first time of the
season. She did a wonderful job.
Coach Berg
wants to thank all the
girls on the track team this 2008 season. You all had a wonderful
year, breaking 3
school records and working together as one. You all made it an
enjoyable and successful season.

We're considering having the Scholastic Bowl
party next week Wednesday. All members
should see Sr. Elaine today, either to confirm that you are coming
or to say what you can bring.
Please leave a note in Rm. 207 if you cannot see
the coach in person. Remember: Freshman and Senior players are
guests; Sophomores and
Juniors provide the refreshments. The party is right after school
at Sr. Elaine's house; it lasts
until 5:00.
Announcement for
Seniors! 
The Senior Baccalaureate
Mass is scheduled for May 1, 2008 at 9:30am at
St. Peter's Roman Catholic Cathedral in Belleville. The
administration at Gibault decided to not have classes on this day so
that faculty and staff can join the seniors and their families at
this Eucharistic Celebration. Attending the Baccalaureate Mass on
May 1, 2008 is a requirement for graduation, please turn in your
permission slips to Mrs. Ramlose this week. Seniors will need to be
at Gibault by 7:50am because they will be riding buses from Gibault
to the Cathedral.
The Senior Potluck will be
held at Gibault immediately after the Baccalaureate Mass. Please
RSVP as soon as possible so that the Mother's Club can place the
meat order for the day.
Seniors - Please turn in
your completed Graduation Program Information Sheet to Mrs. Ramlose
ASAP so that your information can be included in the graduation
program.

Girl's Soccer: Last evening the JV team
beat Nerinx Hall 1-0 with Tara Kennedy
scoring. Mary Kate Brumit and Alycia Schreder shared the shutout in
goal. Alexis Brown had an
excellent game in defense.

The Gibault Math Team ventured to the
University of Illinois to participate in
the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics State Contest on
Saturday. There were over 120
schools in attendance with 32 schools in our division.
Our Algebra 2 Team made up of Hyun Jun Choir, Anna Fiore, Jenny
Lesko, Mike Hoffman and Spencer
Harrison placed 10th, out Calculator Team of Mark
Braun, Ben Sun, Mike Hoffman, and Bobby Douglas placed 9th and our
Freshman-Sophomore Two-person team
of Mark Braun and Ben Sun were 2nd. In the
individual competition Ben Sun was 2nd overall in Geometry. Rounding
out the team for the
day were Caroline Riebeling and Kate Ramlose. Thanks to
everyone who participated!

Softball: The team defeated Steeleville
4-3. Lana Rottler and Lexie Purcell contributed
with good defense and both with an RBI.
Baseball: Last night the baseball team
won 5-1 over Steeleville. Derek Briesacher pitched
very effectively giving up only an unearned run in 6 innings.
Offensively Mike Kreher and Ty
Schutt each had 2 hits. Brian Lupa hit a homerun
while John Thomas nailed 2 homeruns.
Reminder: Buy your tickets for the game
at GCS stadium next Friday from Coach
Skaer or any baseball player.
Girl's Soccer: On Tuesday evening, the
varsity lost to Granite City 7-0. On Wednesday
evening the varsity lost to Alton Marquette 6-1 with Meg Nordike
scoring. The JV team tied Alton
Marquette JV 0-0 with Mary Kate Brumit playing
an excellent game in goal.
Teachers-reminder that today is jeans
day--please collect $1 and put envelopes
in Mrs. Asbury's mailbox.
Reminder: ALL NHS Seniors must stop by
Mrs. Fritz's classroom to verify service
hours. Once service hours are completed you will be given your NHS

Any freshman religion student who turns
in corrections by 3:00 tomorrow will have
those points added to your midquarter grade. Sr.
Elaine will return library books to St. Louis University this

Invitations for the Awards Banquet are
being given out in homeroom today. Students
who made 1st or 2nd honors in the first three quarters or who will
be receiving a special award in
academics, extracurricular activities, service,

Faculty
and Staff Bowling Tournament: The 1st place team of Bill
Guthrie, Terri Wilson, Julie Lesko & Dave Ragowski and
the 4th place team of Jim Montgomery, Pat Hurst, Karen Asbury &
Janet Thomas were awarded the privilege of "dressing down"
the week of 4/21.
Girls' Soccer: Over the weekend the
Varsity lost three games in the Springfield
Sacred Heart Griffen Tournament. We lost to Peoria Richwoods 8-2
with Jackie Wirth and Meg Nordike
scoring. We lost to Quincy Notre dame 4-1 with
Tara Kennedy scoring. Also we lost to Peoria Notre Dame 7-0.
SCOPE. This week is Earth Week! SCOPE
is celebrating by sponsoring a gym shorts/jeans
day on Thursday. Also, SCOPE scholarship forms are available in
the Biology room and need to be
turned in by April 28th.
Again this year the baseball Hawks are
playing at Grizzly Stadium! We play the
Columbia Eagles on Friday, May 2. The varsity game will begin around
6:30. Tickets are $4 apiece. See

Okawville 6-3. Jake Cooper pitched 5 shutout
innings earning the win. AJ Skaer ad Cory Lane had 2 hits each.

had a hit.
Algebra 1 students who miss
class today for the Elizabethan fair need to stop
by Mrs. Wilson's room for their homework assignment.

Thanks to all those who participated in
yesterday's WYSE state finals at the University
of Illinois. Over thirty schools and 450 students participated in
the contest with our Ben Sun
placing 5th in Math and 4th in Physics. Congratulations,
Ben.
Math Team Individual results of the Carbondale
Math Field Day came in the mail
yesterday. With 735 students in attendance, Ben Sun took 1st for the
Sophomore division with Hyun Jun
Choi bringing home an honorable mention for the
Juniors. Math Team
members going to the State competition on April 26 should stop by
Mr. Guthrie's room and pick up
copies of last years tests and a permission slip.
The baseball team lost a well fought game last
night to Columbia. Michael Kreher
got the loss on the mound. Michael also had three hits including his
1st career homerun and a double.
Ty had three hits as well.

Briesacher, Ty Schutt and Brendan
Fournie.

single, run scored and an RBI. Kelsey Barbeau also went 2 for 3.

Gibault competed against all the high schools in Randolph &
Monroe counties.
Congratulations!
Baseball. The team finished third in
the county tournament this weekend. We lost
the first game 2-1 in 8 innings to Waterloo, wasting a GREAT
pitching performance
by John Thomas. We beat Valmeyer 11-6 in the next game. Derek
Briesacher got the win the second
game. Offensively, Sanders, Kaiser, and upa all
had multi-hits.
Liturgical Choir will practice tomorrow
morning at 7:15.
Stage Crew will work Tuesday, Wednesday
and Thursday from 3 to 5 this week. We
will probably need to work one day this weekend too, to hang lights
and run cords, so
start thinking about which day will work better.

had 2 hits and George had 2 RBIs.

Baseball. On Saturday, the baseball
team lost to CBC 6-1. John Thomas and Cory Lane pitched
well. The only hits came from Brendan Fournie and freshman Corey
Sanders in his first varsity at
bat.
Girls' Soccer. On Saturday, the varsity
lost to a very good Chatham Glenwood 3-0 with Alycia
Schreder, Danielle Cooper and Jackie Wirth playing very well. The JV
team lost 2-0.
SENIOR COUNTDOWN: Day 2--tomorrow is
jeans days. Wear a Gibault uniform shirt
with appropriate jeans or jean shorts.

The baseball team won last night over
Chester 8-5. Brian Lupa got the win

Girl's Soccer: Last evening the varsity

The girls JV soccer team lost to the
Highland JV team on Friday in penalty kicks.
Carolyn McManus and Jolene Steibel scored. On Saturday, the JV team
defeated the Anna Jonesboro
varsity 5-0 with Alexis Brown and Mary Kate Brumit
scoring a goal apiece and Tara Kennedy scoring three goals. Also on
Saturday, the JV team lost in
overtime to the Breese Central varsity team 3-2
with Jolene Steibel and Tara Kennedy scoring. Coach Corsi
Congratulations to the baseball team
for winning both games on Saturday, beating
Roxanna 6-1 and Jerseyville 11-9. Brian Lupa, Derek Briesacher and
John Thomas all pitched very well.

ART: The judges of the Sister Cities
Art Contest announced the winners last night
at their monthly meeting. The competition included Valmeyer, Waterloo, and Gibault. Five places
were awarded and Gibault won ALL 5 PLACES!

Amy's work of art will go on to be judged at
the National level. Gibault students

WYSE TEAM. The Gibault WYSE team
took first place at the Sectional competition
yesterday at McKendree. We advanced to STATE which is Monday,

AUSTRALIA TRIP. Those interested

SCHOLASTIC BOWL: The Varsity
Scholastic Bowl Juniors played the semi-final round
of Regionals yesterday. Unfortunately, Marissa defeated the Hawks
and advanced to the
finals.
