                         3rd – Nashville High School

 On Monday, March 10, 2008 a team of Gibault students took 1st place at the Sectional meet of the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering Competition held at McKendree University. Competing against teams and students from 7 high schools in the small school division from the southwestern Illinois region our students placed 1st in three, 2nd in 2, and 3rd in 1 of the 7 academic divisions that make up the competition. Comprised of 11 students from Sophomore, Junior, and Senior classes our individual award winners were Ben Sun 1st in Math & Physics, Jacob Gyore 1st in Chemistry, Melissa Grimm 2nd in English, Kate Ramlose 2nd in Physics, and Spencer Harrison 3rd in Math. The entire team will continue on to the State competition at the University of Illinois on Monday, April 14, 2008.
